About the Council

A strategic bridge between American business and the region.

Who we are, what we stand for, and the commitments that define our work.

Opening remark

US–Somalia Business Council: connecting American business with opportunity across Somalia, the Horn of Africa and East Africa.

The US–Somalia Business Council serves as a strategic bridge connecting American companies seeking new growth markets with Somali-led businesses, investors, institutions and regional partners. Somalis are entrepreneurs, business leaders and major investors across the Horn of Africa and the East African region.

We open doors to new markets, facilitate strategic partnerships, convene business leaders and decision-makers, and help transform investment interest into meaningful commercial opportunities. By strengthening cross-border trade, encouraging investment and fostering collaboration between the United States and regional economies, we aim to unlock new opportunities for businesses, investors and institutions.

WHO WE ARE:

The Leading Voice of the Private Sector, Partnering with Governments to Shape and Advance the Regional Market.

01

The Bridge:

We bridge continents, markets, and opportunities—connecting American companies with businesses, institutions, and emerging opportunities not only in Somalia, but across East Africa and the broader African continent. By building trusted relationships and fostering strategic partnerships, we transform shared ambitions into meaningful, lasting cross-border collaboration.

02

THE CONNECTIONS:

We connect U.S. investors directly with federal and state ministers across key economic sectors.

03

THE FOLLOW-THROUGH:

Introductions are just the beginning. We brief officials, address member priorities, facilitate exploratory visits, and sustain engagement between events.

Our priorities

Six commitments that define the Council's work.

Promote American capability

Put US products, services, technologies and expertise in front of the Somali market.

Make the match

Connect US companies with Somali businesses, investors and credible commercial partners.

Map the opportunity

Identify and communicate real investment and trade openings, with the bottlenecks stated honestly.

Convene

Business introductions, networking events and commercial delegations in both directions.

Build in priority sectors

Focus partnership effort where capital and capability are most needed.

Hold the standard

Support responsible, transparent and sustainable private-sector development. Professionalism and integrity are the terms of membership.

The best way to demonstrate that Somalia is open for business is to be open to business — through conversation, follow-up, and implementation.
