In a statement issued from Mogadishu, Council Chairman Ambassador Idd Bedel Mohamed responded to a recent statement by the U.S. Bureau of African Affairs.
He cautions against reading the statement as a political win for any domestic group. In his view it underlines the importance of consultation and coordination between Somalia and the United States as strategic partners.
The two countries share a long partnership grounded in peace, stability and regional security, and decisions on either side that affect the other should be taken with prior consultation, as a matter of sound diplomatic practice.
