The US–Somalia Business Council announced its first annual high-level conference on Somalia, held as a sideline event to the United Nations General Assembly.
The programme opened with a pre-conference session in Kismayo, Jubaland State, on 15–17 August 2023, bringing together federal and state ministers, the Jubaland and Somalia chambers of commerce, U.S. firm representatives and U.S. officials.
It continued with a High-Level Forum in New York City in September 2023, the first business and investment forum held by Somali leaders in the United States in 33 years.
